The Red Blooded Heroes of the Frontier; A Romance of Real Men.

NY: Grosset & Dunlap, 1910. The George Duran reprint edition. [iv], frontis, 342pp. Internal corners bumped, dust jacket soiled and chipped (more on that later), dusty on top, overall very good. Ramon Adams - who is notoriously stingy with his praise - calls this Òan excellent piece of western Americana.Ó It contains a chapter on Clay Allison, another about stagecoach robberies by Dunc Blackburn, and still others on shotgun messengers, horse thieves, and the robbing of the Southern Pacific. It is very rare to find a dust jacket this old, and it is easy to see why. The jacket is mostly white with text on the cover, while the cloth covered boards are blood red with a colorful thrilling scene of a stage robbery. The jacket is soiled and worn, but it has done its job well since the cover illustration is bright. 6 Guns. 284. Item #4613
