Rhoads' West.

Flagstaff: Northland Press, 1972. Limited edition of 100. 10pp, plus 56 full page cartoons with facing captions. Near fine in a slipcase. Fred Rhoads (1921-2000) studied art illustration in New York City, and contributed gags to a variety of publications as well as assisting cartoonists including Mort Walker creator of Beetle Bailey. He was a longtime artist on 'Sad Sack' comic books, and later on he worked for the Tucson (Ariz.) Citizen as an editorial cartoonist in the 1980s and early 1990s. The cartoons here all have western settings showing cowboys, outlaws, greenhorns, and a variety of ne'er-do-wells in more or less humorous situations. This is a limited edition of 100 numbered, quarter bound in cloth. Included is a full page (about 6 x9 inches) original watercolor cartoon by Rhoads, signed by him. Item #26716
