Light extremity wear, owner's name on ffep and one internal page (of eminent archaeologist J.O. Brew), else unopened and near fine. This is the first English translation of Villagra's participant account of Don Juan de O–ate's establishment of New Mexico 1595-1601. Originally an epic poem published first in 1610, Gilbert Espinosa rendered the narrative into prose and included a number of supplementary documents. A Basic New Mexico Book. Item #26638
