The Pacific Coast Railway; Central California's Premier Narrow Gauge.

Los Altos, CA: Benchmark Publications Ltd., 1998. xiii, 296pp, illus. Near fine in a like dust jacket. The story of the 3-foot gauge Pacific Coast Railway, which, from 1876 to the 1920s, ran a 76 mile railway from the deep water harbor at Port Harford (later Port San Luis) on the Central California coast, north through San Luis Obispo, and then south to Los Olivos. Profusely illustrated with plans and photos of many of the PC's structures and most of the line's cars and locomotives, diagrams of each turnout and line-side structure, and a milepost list with every bridge, fence, siding, and tie are included. OK, it doesn't really have a list of every tie, but still a lot of information on a 76 mile railroad into 296 pages. Item #26628
