The San Antonio and Arsansas Pass Railway; The Story of the Famous "SAP" Railway of Texas
Waco, TX: AMA Graphics, 1983. [iv], 148pp, illus. Owner's name on ffep, edgewear to the dust jacket, else near fine. The San Antonio and Aransas Pass Railway Company was chartered on August 28, 1884, to connect San Antonio with Aransas Bay, a distance of 135 miles. The line built additional track to Corpus Christi, Kerrville and Waco, and by 1891 the SA&AP was operating 688 miles of main track. Typical of railroads of the day, it went through receivership and a variety of ownership structures. This scarce volume recounts the history of the SA&AP, describes the equipment, the personnel, and has a long chapter on wrecks. Item #26626
