Acts passed at the Second Session of the Fifteenth Congress.

Washingto, DC: Government Printing Office, 1819. 112, 116pp. Plain wrappers, mostly unopened, some external soiling and damp stain, owner's name, else very good. President James Madison. The acts and resolutions passed by the United States Congress (both House and Senate) during the first decades of the nineteenth century include some of the defining actions of the founders of the country, but at least as interesting is the minutia of operating a government at a time when legislators were still making it up as they went along. Included in this volume are acts declaring the admission of Illinois into the Union, enforcing the prohibition of the trade in slaves, authorizing the President to take possession of East and West Florida and to establish a temporary government there. There are also sixteen Indian treaties. Item #19430
