Acts passed at the First Session of the Tenth Congress.

Washington, DC: Government Printing Office, 1808. 178, vii-pp. Plain wrappers, mostly unopened, some external soiling, else very good. Front wrap missing. Thomas Jefferson President. The acts and resolutions passed by the United States Congress (both House and Senate) during the first decades of the nineteenth century include some of the defining actions of the founders of the country, but at least as interesting is the minutia of operating a government at a time when legislators were still making it up as they went along. Included in this volume are three Indian treaties, an act to make good the deficit from 1807, and an act embargoing all shipping in the ports of the United States (a precursor to the War of 1812).
