The San Antonio and Aransas Pass Railway Company was chartered on August 28, 1884, to connect San Antonio with Aransas Bay, a distance of 135 miles. The line built additional track to Corpus Christi, Kerrville and Waco, and by 1891 the SA&AP was operating 688 miles of main track. Typical of railroads of the day, it went through receivership and a variety of ownership structures. This scarce volume recounts the history of the SA&AP, describes the equipment, the personnel, and has a long chapter on wrecks.
